S5000F training :
Data modeling for version 3.1

Overview of the introductory S5000F training

This training module presents the S5000F specification in the context of the S-Series package.

The S5000F specification helps support the flow of information resulting from equipment use, for the purpose of optimizing maintenance intervals, verifying compliance with reliability requirements, warranty claims, cost studies, and more.

A major support challenge is being able to collect real-world field information (In service) and feed it back into ILS processes and even design processes (Redesign).

To do this, In-service feedback (S5000F) makes it possible to structure and analyze system data with the goal of continuously improving support and design.

The S-Series specifications rely on a similar IT environment: UML 2.0 modeling and an XML 1.1 exchange format.

This training module is based on: the SX002D Common Data Model, the SX004G Unified Modeling Language (UML) model reader’s guidance specification, the SX005G S-Series ILS specifications XML schema implementation guidance specification, and the UML models and various XML schemas (XSD) provided by the S-Series.

Available on request

Target

RETEX / Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) engineer and anyone required to produce or manage S5000F data.

Prerequisites

No prerequisites. A general knowledge of ILS is a plus. Knowledge of UML and XML is a plus. We will work primarily with these technical elements during this training.

Information

All our training courses can be delivered in person or remotely. In-company or inter-company training.

Accessibility

4D CONCEPT is committed to making its training courses accessible to all audiences. Our training centres provide access for people with reduced mobility, and our teams make every effort to support participants with disabilities, whatever their situation, throughout their training pathway.

Please contact our disability officer at the following address

Training objectives

At the end of the training, you will have covered the following topics:

  • ASD S-Series data modeling method (UML)
  • Formalization of ASD S-Series data exchanges in XML format
  • Reading elements to easily get started with S5000F

And you will know how to:

  • Model S5000F data (UML)
  • Specify and model a S5000F use case
  • Produce a simple S5000F XML file

You will have:

First-hand experience implementing practical data exchange scenarios (XML message): formalization and construction of an example use case: a maintenance activity report, a configuration change applied, and more.

Program

1. Overview of the S-Series normative package

  • Functional scope
  • Interaction of the specifications
  • Development schedule
  • Organization

2. The Common Data Model

  • Composition / history
  • Block Release version,
  • XML exchange and XML schema (XSD)

3. UML Modeling

  • Basic principles: primitives, relationships, and interfaces
  • Functional implementation: functional units, use case, and message
  • Specific concepts of the S-Series: breakdowns, specializations, base objects, project-specific attributes

4. Using Enterprise Architect

  • Navigation and reading of diagrams
  • Management of tags and templates
  • Valid values, filters, document generation, and mapping tables

5. SX0005G: S-Series XML 1.1 data exchanges,

  • XSD schemas,
  • Using an Altova XMLSpy or oXygen tool,
  • Complex types, attributes,
  • Uid/Uiref, valid values,
  • Project-specific attributes, parsing

6. Examples of implementation

  • An implementation method for messages: example from the S5000F chapter
  • Implementation of a simple real-world case

Assessment methods:

Learning outcomes will be assessed by the instructor at the end of the course.
