S3000L is an international standard for the Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) process, an essential component of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS).
S3000L: ‘International procedure specification for Logistics Support Analysis’

S3000L defines the general requirements for integrated product support, configuration management and analysis activities necessary for logistics support analysis throughout the life cycle of complex technical systems. These systems, often characterised by their long service life and significant maintenance requirements, include industrial, aerospace and defence products.

The S-Series specifications are based on a similar IT environment: UML 2.0 modelling and XML 1.1 exchange format.

This training module is based on: the SX002D Common Data Model, the SX004G Unified Modelling Language (UML) model reader’s guidance specification, the SX005G S-Series ILS specifications XML schema implementation guidance specification, and the UML models and various XML schemas (XSD) provided by the S-Series.

The module presents the S3000L specification in the context of the S-Series pack.

Target

ASL service manager, ASL analyst, BASL (Logistics Support Analysis Base) manager, and anyone who needs to produce or manage S3000L data.

Prerequisites

No prerequisites.

A general knowledge of SLI is an advantage.

Knowledge of UML and XML is an advantage. We will mainly be working with these technical elements during this training course.

Location

All our training courses can be delivered in person or remotely. Intra-company or inter-company training.

Accessibility

4D CONCEPT is committed to offering training courses to everyone. Our centres are accessible to people with reduced mobility, and our teams are on hand to provide the best possible support to participants with disabilities of any kind throughout their training.

Please contact our disability advisor at psh-accueil@.4dconcept.fr so that we can assess your request and its feasibility.

Goals

At the end of the training course, you will have covered the following topics:

  • ASD S-Series data modelling method (UML)
  • Formalisation of ASD S-Series data exchanges in XML format
  • Reading elements for easy entry into the S3000L

And you will know how to:

  • Model (UML) S3000L data
  • How to formalise a simple BASL
  • How to produce a simple S3000L XML file

You will have:

  • Initial experience in implementing practical data exchange cases (XML messages)

Program

1. Overview of the S-Series standard pack

  • Functional scope
  • Interaction of specifications
  • Development schedule
  • Organisation

2. The Common Data Model

  • Constitution/history
  • Block Release version
  • XML exchange and XML schema (XSD)

3. UML modeling

  • Basic principles: primitives, relationships and interfaces
  • Functional implementation: functional units, use cases and messages
  • Specific concepts in S-Series: breakdowns, specialisations, base objects, project-specific attributes

4. Using Enterprise Architect

  • Navigating and reading diagrams
  • Managing tags and templates
  • Valid values, filters, documentation generation, and mapping tables

5. SX0005G: XML 1.1 S-series data exchanges

  • XSD schemas,
  • Using Altova XMLSpy or oXygen tools,
  • Complex Types, Attributes,
  • Uid/Uiref, valid values,
  • Project-specific attributes, parsing

6. Examples of implementation

  • A method for implementing messages: example from chapter S5000F
  • Implementation of a simple concrete case
  • XSLT: Transition from MIL-STD-1388-2B to S3000L 1.1

Assessment methods:
The trainer will assess the knowledge acquired at the end of the course.
